Kennedy Town’s New Praya waterfront is set for a major revamp after a new wave-shaped promenade project was approved on June 25. The scheme will create a 200-metre-long, 10-metre-wide harbourfront walkway between Cadogan Street and Belcher Bay, with construction expected to begin in mid-2028 and completion targeted for mid-2031.

The proposed design follows a curved, wave-like form along the shoreline and includes several public enhancements.

According to the concept plan, the promenade will feature viewing platforms at different points, stepped seating facing the harbour, landscaped greenery, seating areas and an eco-shoreline.
Entrances are planned at both Cadogan Street and Belcher Bay, improving pedestrian access through a waterfront stretch that is popular with residents, runners and sunset watchers.

The project also sits beside the existing seawall, an important feature of the area’s harbourfront character.
New Praya has long been known as one of Kennedy Town’s most recognisable waterside spots, with its open sea views and informal “check-in” location drawing crowds at peak hours. The revamped promenade is expected to make the area more accessible and comfortable while preserving the appeal of the historic waterfront setting.
