Hongkongers can attend a Sports Carnival at the West Kowloon Cultural District Art for free on June 16 between 9.30am and 5pm, as part of the 2023 Olympic Day and Asian Games Fun Run event. The carnival is part of the government’s Happy Hong Kong initiative to give residents of the city and tourists the chance to experience new recreational and leisure events in the coming year.
Visitors can check out a variety of sports demonstrations and trial counters, as well as mini-game booths, and a Hangzhou Asian Sports Corner. They can also collect stamps from the counters they visit and redeem them for souvenirs.
In addition, registrations for the 2023 Olympic Day and Asian Games Fun Run close on May 31. The event will feature three runs: the 2023 Olympic Day Individual Run and Family Fun Run, and the Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run.
The event is open to a maximum of 3,000 participants, who will be admitted on a first-come-first-served basis only after they register online.
2023 Olympic Day Individual Run
There will be three races in the 2023 Olympic Day Individual Run category, which will start at different times. The details of the run are:
- Distance: 3 km
- Entry fee: HK$120 per person
- Minimum age: 3 years (parental consent required for participants under 18 years old)
- Start time: 8.30am, 9.05am, 9.40am
- Duration: 30 minutes
2023 Olympic Day Family Fun Run
There will be only one race in this category, and participants can only register as a group. There should be at least one person aged between 3 and 12 years old accompanied by a parent or guardian in each group.
- Distance: 1 km
- Entry fee: HK$350 per group (2-4 persons per group)
- Minimum age: 3 years
- Start time: 10.15am
- Duration: 15 minutes
Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run
This run is being held in the run-up to the Hangzhou Asian Games in September this year. Only members of the Hong Kong Olympic Fan Club are eligible for this category.
- Distance: 1 km
- Entry fee: HK$100 per person
- Minimum age: 3 years (parental consent required for participants under 18 years old)
- Start time: 10.35am
- Duration: 15 minutes
Selected participants will receive a confirmation email within a week after they register for the event. They will then receive an email with the details of how to collect their runner’s pack by June 5. They may only collect their packs on designated days from Olympic House in Causeway Bay.
