Part of the Old Golf Course at Fanling that was closed off to the public for two months will reopen on November 18. During that time, the 32-hectare section of the course was used as a venue for two international golf tournaments: the Aramco Team Series in October, and the Hong Kong Open earlier in November.
The park area, located east of Fan Kam Road, was earlier part of the Fanling Golf Course and is the oldest golf course in Hong Kong. However, it was returned to the government in September and is currently managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, which oversees all public parks in the territory.
The recreational space has an inclusive park for pets that will be open from 7am-6pm every day, as well as a walking trail that visitors can access from 7am-9pm all days of the week. There are also two 5-a-side hard-surface soccer pitches on the premises that are currently under renovation.
In addition, there are areas of the course that are still under Hong Kong Golf Club management — specifically the first three holes of the Old Course — that the public can enter every Sunday from 1pm-9pm.
