While passengers do not have to pay the airfare on their tickets, they must bear the costs of any applicable taxes, surcharges, and other fees.

Winners have the option of choosing additional services such as check-in baggage, seats, and in-flight meals when they book their tickets, or after they receive their confirmation email from the airline.

This giveaway is part of the Hello Hong Kong and World of Winners initiatives by which tourists can win 500,000 tickets to Hong Kong and other destinations via the city on four of the SAR’s airlines: Cathay Pacific, HK Express, Hong Kong Airlines, and Greater Bay Airlines.

The campaign kicked off in March this year, and began with giveaways for tourists from South East Asia and Mainland China, followed by distributions drives targetted at travellers from South Asia, the Middle East, the UK, the US, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, East Asia, and Europe.

There are also 80,000 free tickets earmarked for Hong Kong residents, which were given away between July and August. The last phase of giveaways will be in September 2023 and will target Mainland China residents.
