Hong Kong travellers to Macau can continue to get free tickets on ferry and bus services back home if they spend at least one night in the casino city, from mid-April to June this year. The Macau government will announce the details when authorities finalise the details of the offer.
According to a report in the Macau Post Daily, Macau Government Tourism Office Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes revealed that this time the offer will be extended to overseas visitors who go to the casino city from Hong Kong as well.
Macau recently dropped its pre-departure Covid-19 test requirements for visitors from Taiwan and overseas, starting April 1. However, travellers who plan to enter Mainland China within seven days of their arrival in Macau from Taiwan or from certain overseas places must still undergo either a nucleic acid test or rapid antigen test.
The Macau government first announced this buy-one-get-one-free offer, which ran from January 13 till March 31, only for Hong Kong residents. Visitors from Hong Kong to Macau were also exempt from Covid-19 testing, starting early January. Transport operators like the Hong Kong-Macao Express bus, TurboJET and Cotai Water Jet ferry services provided free tickets back to Hong Kong as part of the scheme.
