The MTR will run overnight services on September 17, 2024, the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, on 8 of its Heavy Rail lines and 7 of its Light Rail routes. The Hong Kong rail corporation will start peak service operations from 3pm that day, and will add about 520 extra trips to its schedule.
After 8pm on September 17, trains on the Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, and Kwun Tong Line will run at 3-4 intervals. Overnight trains on MTR rail lines will begin at 12.30am on September 18 and end at 6am, with trains plying at 12-15 minute intervals during this time. However, these schedules do not apply to the Airport Express, Disneyland Resort Line, and journeys to or from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations on the East Rail Line.
In addition, seven Light Rail routes 505, 507, 610, 614P, 615P, 706, and 751 will run from 1am-5.30am at 15-20-minute intervals. While MTR Buses will not operate overnight, services on routes 506, K51, and K54 will run later than usual — from 11:15pm-1:50am.
The MTR recently added more than 100 trips on the East Rail, Tseung Kwan O and Tuen Ma Lines, as well as a special weekday morning route on the Light Rail. Cross-border train services on the East Rail Line to and from Lok Ma Chau and Lo Wu will also be increased during specific times on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.
