Three Hong Kong tertiary institutes have found places among the world’s top 10 best universities under 50 years old.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (No. 2), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (No. 4), and the City University of Hong Kong (No. 6) are in the Times Higher Education Young University Top 10 rankings for 2023.
Hong Kong Baptist University is among the 101-150 rankings of this year’s list.
According to the rankings, the top young university is Nanyang Technical University in Singapore. In addition, higher education institutes from France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, and South Korea made up the rest of the Top 10.
The Times Higher Education’s Asia university rankings use the same performance indicators as its world university rankings: teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income. However, the weightings are specially recalibrated to reflect the the profile of missions of young universities.
Last month, five Hong Kong universities were among the Top 20 of the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings for 2023.
