Hong Kong is set to host its first official Comic Con in 2026, marking a major moment for the city’s pop culture and entertainment scene. Visitors can expect celebrity guest appearances, cosplay competitions, gaming areas, art displays, exclusive merchandise and themed panels designed for fans across comics, film, television, anime and games. More details will be announced closer to the event on the official website.

Comic Con first began in San Diego in 1970 as a small fan gathering dedicated to comic books and science fiction films. Over the decades, it has grown into one of the most influential pop culture conventions in the world, with editions now held in cities such as New York, London, Dubai and Tokyo. The San Diego event alone attracts more than 130,000 attendees each year.

More and more pop-culture events in the 852

The arrival of Comic Con in Hong Kong highlights the city’s evolving position as a vibrant hub for global pop culture and creative exchange. For years, Hong Kong has hosted Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong, first launched in 1999, which remains a major gathering point for the anime, gaming and cosplay communities.

More recently, the city welcomed ComplexCon for the first time in 2024, followed by a second edition from 21–23 March 2025, marking its growing recognition as a key destination on the international pop culture circuit. These events, along with newer creative celebrations such as the Water Parade or Merry Balloon demonstrate a rising momentum in Hong Kong’s cultural calendar.
