Hong Kong Disneyland is adding a new character experience to World of Frozen from early May, as Hong Kong visitors will be able to come across Olaf while exploring Arendelle, with short greetings and photo opportunities designed to feel more spontaneous than a fixed meet-and-greet.

Olaf is intended to move through guest areas as an on-land ambassador for Arendelle, creating brief, unannounced encounters across the themed zone. Disney describes Olaf as a self-walking, free-roaming robotic character created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development.

The system uses reinforcement learning, a training method that helps the robot learn how to walk, balance and perform controlled motions. The aim is for Olaf to move in a way that looks closer to an animated character, while operating in a live theme park environment with guests nearby.

The technology was announced in November 2025 and has already been seen at Disneyland Paris, linked to the opening of its World of Frozen in late March 2026. Hong Kong’s version is scheduled to arrive next, bringing the same roaming-style character format to the city’s Frozen land.

No daily timetable was included with the announcement, so Olaf sightings may vary depending on the day and how the land is operating.
