The 10th anniversary edition of the Affordable Art Fair with artworks selling starting from HK$1,000 is set for May 18-21, 2023 (Thurs to Sun). This year’s fair will have 93 exhibiting international and Hong Kong galleries.

Nine new local galleries will exhibit their work at the fair for the first time. There will also be art workshops, performances, artwork tours, and artist talks. Galleries from 15 countries will be exhibiting, including those from South Korea, mainland China, Japan, Australia, and Switzerland.

In 2020, the fair was cancelled in the mid of pandemic worries, while in 2021, overseas galleries had the option to exhibit remotely.

Affordable Art Fair began with the mission to make owning contemporary art more accessible. Founded in London in 1999 by William Ramsay (who also co-founded Art Central and what became Art Basel Hong Kong), the fair has taken place in 10 cities around the world since then. In 2023, the fair will also run in London (11-14 May), Shanghai (8-11 June), Sydney (15-18 June), and Melbourne (31 Aug-3 Sep).

Born in Canada, Danielle is deep diving into the things that make Hong Kong a city of intermingling identities, and bridging the information gap as someone trying to navigate the city herself as a cultural inbetweener. Sometimes this means examining culture and local people’s stories, and other times it means drinking all the milk tea and doing walking explorations of peripheral districts.
