While Hong Kong has many pet-inclusive and pet-friendly parks, there are not many forms of public transport in the city on which pet parents can take their furry friends. MTR passengers are not allowed to bring animals on board trains and franchised buses, unless they are guide dogs accompanying the visually impaired. And according to Hong Kong’s Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Regulations, an animal can only enter a taxi if the driver allows it. However, 18 outlying islands ferry routes allow pets onboard, with restrictions governing leashing, muzzling, and which part of the ferry they can occupy.
