Looking for a fun way to explore Tuen Mun, but don’t quite know where to start? You’re in luck because MTR recently introduced the Tuen Mun Voyager — a special Light Rail Sightseeing Tour that offers a unique way to discover this vibrant district. The service is available on weekends and public holidays in the form of a circular route that connects 12 key stops, giving passengers the freedom to hop on and off while discovering Tuen Mun’s mix of urban life, cultural sites, and scenic spots.

What is the Tuen Mun Voyager?

The Tuen Mun Voyager launched on February 22, 2025, as a themed sightseeing experience on the MTR’s High Rail network to showcase the district’s attractions. Passengers can choose from three curated routes:

  • Leisure Photography Tour: A scenic journey featuring picture-perfect spots like the blooming Bauhinia Variegata — often referred to as ‘Hong Kong’s Kawazu Sakura’ — near Fu Tai Estate and the well-known Beyond the Dream bridge.
  • Foodie Tour: A must for culinary lovers, with stops at Kei Lun Hakka Restaurant, Lung Mun Oasis for street food, and Sam Shing’s seafood market.
  • Family Tour: Ideal for families, with stops at Tuen Mun Park Reptile House, Siu Hei Sportsground, and Lingnan University for an engaging day out.

The Tuen Mun Voyager Light Rail vehicle is easy to spot — the exteriors of each Light Rail vehicle have been done up in colourful hand-painted illustrations that depict the unique cultural landscapes, leisure activities, and delectable cuisine of the district.

How to Get Tickets for the Tuen Mun Voyager

The Tuen Mun Voyager runs on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, with six trains running throughout the day. Each full journey lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Passengers can get the HK$50 Light Rail Travel Pass Package, which includes unlimited rides for an entire day and HK$150 worth of discount vouchers for selected restaurants and shops. Tickets can be bought on board using Octopus cards, contactless credit and debit cards, and QR Code payments, making it easy for travellers to explore Tuen Mun’s highlights at their own pace.
