The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon will return on January 17, 2027, bringing tens of thousands of local and overseas runners onto Hong Kong’s roads.
Organised by the Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates, the annual race will have a record 78,000 places across its main races, while new and expanded Saturday events will bring the total number of runners across the weekend to around 84,000.
The Hong Kong Marathon 2027 Routes
The main race day covers three categories: Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km. The 10km Wheelchair Race will also take place on the same day.
The 42.195km Marathon starts on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui and finishes at Victoria Park, with the published course taking runners across Stonecutters Bridge and Ting Kau Bridge before returning through the Western Harbour Crossing.
The Half Marathon also runs from Nathan Road to Victoria Park, while the 10km starts on the Island Eastern Corridor and finishes at Victoria Park.
The Half Marathon and 10km Challenge groups begin at 5:30am, while the Marathon Challenge starts at 6am, followed by Marathon Run 1 at 6:25am and Run 2 at 6:50am.
Other Half Marathon and 10km waves are staggered throughout the morning, so runners should check their assigned start time carefully once confirmed.

Runners should pay attention to the following dates:
- September 11: Priority Entry results will be announced at 10am, while the Public Ballot and Team Registration will open at 2pm
- September 20: The Public Ballot and Team Registration will close at 7pm
Registration will open on the official website. As places are allocated by ballot, there is no need to register immediately when applications open.
First-round ballot results will be announced on September 25, followed by a second round on October 7. Successful applicants must pay by the stated deadlines to secure their places.
The Marathon Charity Programme also opens for runner registration on September 11, while disability entry and the 10km Wheelchair Race have opened for registration from September 4.
Marathon Expo & Runner Pack Collection
Successful runners will collect their packs during the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon Expo, scheduled for January 13 to 16, 2027.
The expo will return to Kai Tak Arena, with runner pack collection taking place across the four days. Collection emails are due to be sent in late December, with reservation arrangements opening in early January.
New 5km Harbourfront Run Comes To Kai Tak
There is also something new for runners who are not ready for 10km or more. On January 16, the day before the main races, the inaugural 5km Harbourfront Run will take 3,000 participants from Kai Tak Sports Park along the Kai Tak Promenade to Shing Kai Road Garden.
The flat waterfront course is designed as a more accessible entry point and is open to wheelchair participants. The Youth Run, for runners aged 10 to 15, will also expand to 3,000 places.
