South Korean coffee chain Mega MGC Coffee is preparing to make its Hong Kong debut with a new shop in Central this October.
Founded in 2015, Mega MGC Coffee has grown through a value-focused model built around affordable prices, large drink sizes and convenient takeaway locations. By late August 2026, the chain had reached 4,466 stores across South Korea, making it one of the country’s biggest coffee chains by store count.
Its bright yellow shops are common in office districts, neighbourhoods and areas near universities. The menu goes beyond standard coffee, with fruit drinks, smoothies, frappes and desserts helping to attract younger customers.
The Hong Kong shop will open at G/F, 37 Cochrane Street, Central, a site previously occupied by Indonesian Restaurant 1968, which closed in July. The location sits close to the Central–Mid-Levels Escalator and is now covered with Mega MGC Coffee’s bright yellow hoarding ahead of the October opening.
Hong Kong customers can also look forward to seeing whether the brand’s celebrity collaboration culture will arrive locally. In South Korea, footballer Son Heung-min has served as a brand model, while K-pop artists including NCT WISH and Super Junior have previously appeared in campaigns featuring cup sleeves and limited-edition merchandise, giving fans another reason to visit its stores.
More details, including the exact opening date and the full Hong Kong menu, are expected closer to October.
