The InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong was named the World’s Leading Luxury Business Hotel Award for 2023 at the 30th World Travel Awards. This is the sixth time that the property was bestowed with the title, making it the most times a hotel has won in this category since 2009. The hotel reclaimed the title from Pestana Palace Lisboa in Portugal.
The awards, which were announced at a gala ceremony in Dubai, aim to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. The InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong was also nominated in three other categories: World’s Leading City Business Hotel, World’s Leading Business Hotel, and World’s Leading Hotel Service Award. In addition, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts were awarded the World’s Leading Business Hotel Brand for 2023.
Each year, the World Travel Awards cover the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies that celebrate individual and collective success within each key geographical region. During the Asia leg of the regional awards announced in September, Hong Kong won five honours: Asia’s Leading Airport, Asia’s Leading Airline Lounge — First Class (Cathay Pacific’s ‘The Wing, First), Leading Airport Lounge (Plaza Premium First), Asia’s Leading Cruise Port (Kai Tai Cruise Terminal), and Asia’s Leading Heritage Hotel (Peninsula Hong Kong).
It’s been a big year for Hong Kong’s hospitality industry. The Peninsula Hong Kong was voted the sixth-best hotel in the world in the 36th Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards. The Tsim Sha Tsui-based hotel was also the only Asian establishment in the Top 10, making it the best hotel in the region. Hong Kong-based Mandarin Oriental was also voted the best luxury hotel brand in the world, while Rosewood Hong Kong and The Upper House were also featured in the first World’s 50 Best Hotels List.
