JD.com is preparing to open its first JD Mall in Hong Kong, more than a year after plans for the Mainland e-commerce giant’s local physical store were first reported in March 2025.

JD.com actually confirmed last November that its first physical store in the SAR would open in Wan Chai this year. Recent reports have said that the very first JD Mall will open on June 18, covering 30,000 sq ft, with some reports citing 28 Harbour Road as the future location of the flagship store.

JD.com is best known as one of China’s largest online retailers, but its business now extends far beyond a shopping app. The group has built its reputation around fast delivery, warehousing, logistics and supply chain control, which have helped it become a major player in China’s retail market.

JD MALL is part of that wider offline strategy. Rather than working like a standard electronics shop, the format of the Hong Kong store is designed as an experience-led store where customers can compare products, test appliances and browse smart-home technology before buying.

JD.com has been expanding the concept across Mainland China, with recent stores launched in cities including Shenzhen, Beijing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Taiyuan and Tianjin.

The Hong Kong move comes as consumer electronics, home gadgets and smart-living products remain a strong fit for the city. For the group, the Wan Chai opening is more than a new shop. It is a test of whether its Mainland-style online-to-offline retail model can connect with Hong Kong shoppers who are already used to researching, comparing and buying across digital and physical channels.
