Six Hong Kong restaurants have earned spots on the 10th edition of the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, which was announced on Tuesday evening during a live awards show broadcast. Ten restaurants from the SAR made it onto the prestigious list’s 51-100 rankings last week. The Chairman, at No. 5 this year, was the highest-ranking Hong Kong restaurant on the list. In addition, Hong Kong chef David Lai of Neighborhood was voted by his peers as the winner of this year’s Inedit Damm Chefs’ Choice Award.

The list is determined by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy – a group of more than 300 leaders in the restaurant industry across Asia. There are no specific criteria for restaurants to make it onto the list However, there are certain rules Academy members must adhere to during the voting process.

Due to pandemic-related travel restrictions, this year voters could nominate a total of eight restaurants, including up to six from their home country, but with no obligation to vote for restaurants outside of their home country or region. They must also have dined at the restaurants they nominated within the past 18 months.
