The Hong Kong government announced that it will conduct a series of five free-to-enter Weekend Bazaars, starting May 25. The first two events will be this weekend in Sai Kung from May 25-29, and in Tsuen Wan from May 26-28. The third will be at Kowloon Park from June 17-18, while details about the remaining two bazaars are yet to be announced.
|EVENT||VENUE||DATE & TIME|
|Sai Kung District Weekend Bazaar||Sai Kung Tin Hau Temple (Sai Kung Town Centre)||May 25- 29, 10am-11pm|
|Tsuen Wan District Weekend Bazaar||Sha Tsui Road Playground, Tsuen Wan||May 26-28, 10am-6pm|
|Yau Tsim District Weekend Bazaar||Piazza of Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui||June 17-18, 10am-5.30pm|
Each bazaar will feature more than 50 stalls that will provide visitors with food, shopping and game options, as well as performances and exhibitions. The Sai Kung Festival, which will be held at the Tin Hau Temple premises, will feature Cantonese opera performances, dragon and lion dances, and a family fun fair, among other attractions. The Tsuen Wan event will have stage performances, free game stalls, and a special zone for children.
Plans for the Weekend Bazaars were first announced by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu in his 2022 policy address with the aim of “fostering diversified local economic activities”. The bazaars will also draw upon some of the experiences from the Gourmet Marketplace events that are being held as part of the Happy Hong Kong campaign to provide Hong Kong residents and visitors new recreational activities.
