If you’re up to speed on meme culture, then you’re no doubt aware of Chill Guy, aka the ‘My Character’ internet sensation. And soon, Hong Kong fans of the cool canine can head to the world’s first pop-up store dedicated to the icon for three weeks, starting mid-April. Kowloon Tong mall Festival Walk will be transformed into a haven for Chill Guy enthusiasts, complete with a larger-than-life replica of the online phenomenon, Instagram-worthy photo spots, and a wide range of official merch. Whether you’re a longtime follower or just love the laid-back energy of Chill Guy, this is an event you can’t miss.

A Chill Spot for Fans

The pop-up store is open to fans from April 11-May 5, and will give them plenty of Hong Kong-exclusive experiences. The highlight is a giant Chill Guy installation standing at an impressive three metres high, making the perfect backdrop for photos. Visitors can also check out the 852-inspired meme check-in seats if they want a local twist to the experience. The store will also feature over 100 official themed products, including trendy dolls, T-shirts, baseball caps, disposable film cameras, travel essentials, and other everyday must-haves.

Who is Chill Guy?

Chill Guy was created by artist Phillip Bankss in 2023, and quickly become a viral sensation for his ultra-relaxed expressions and relatable “zero-stress” attitude. His popularity skyrocketed as memes featuring the character spread on social media, making him a symbol of effortless cool. However, his image was controversially used in a cryptocurrency project, sparking debates over intellectual property and meme culture in digital finance. Despite the drama, Chill Guy remains a fan favourite, and this pop-up store proves just how big his influence has become.
