Hong Kong is all set to stage its first-ever large-scale water show to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The event, which is being organised by Blue Planet Action, will take place at the Water Sports and Recreation Precinct in Wan Chai on the evenings of October 18 and 19, 2024.

The two-day event, called the Wan Chai Watershow Extravaganza, will feature water fountains, light displays, and music. The centrepiece will be a sequence in which rockets transform into dragons that will journey through iconic scenes of China and Hong Kong, before changing into a phoenix. Visitors can also check out more than 10 free game stalls with family-friendly activities and explore traditional Chinese crafts at the venue. There will also be performances during the event, with shows by singers Karen Kong and Gabriel Harrison, and community groups showcasing singing and dancing acts.

Tickets for the October 18 programme are available via registration on the Blue Planet Action Facebook page at the Wan Chai Home Affairs Enquiry Centre from October 14, and each visitor can pick up no more than two tickets. There are 3,000 tickets up for grabs before the event, and an additional 600 will be available at the venue on the day of the event. Spectators will not need tickets for the October 19 programme.
