As announced in November, the Eastern Section of the East Coast Boardwalk in North Point will open to the public at 6am on December 29, completing a continuous 13-kilometre harbourfront along Hong Kong Island from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan.

The East Coast Boardwalk stretches for about 2.2 kilometres beneath the Island Eastern Corridor and is divided into two equal sections. The Western Section, linking East Coast Park and the North Point Promenade, opened earlier this year and has been well received. The newly opened Eastern Section connects the North Point Promenade to Hoi Yu Street in Quarry Bay, creating a seamless harbourfront route from west to east.

Like the western part, the Eastern Section will be open 24 hours a day, except for a glass observatory deck, which operates from 10am to 6pm and offers views directly down to the harbour. Other features include pet-friendly areas, open spaces for community and art activities, and a small plaza near Quarry Bay. A widened footpath at Hoi Yu Street has also been added to improve access.

The boardwalk follows a shared-space design, allowing walking, jogging and cycling, with separate pedestrian paths available. Multiple access points are provided along the route, with an additional lift and staircase near Tin Chiu Street Playground set to open next year.
