After leaked hangar photos circulated last week, Cathay Pacific has confirmed today the return of its classic livery for its 80th anniversary.

The airline will operate special flights featuring the iconic “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery, a design closely associated with Cathay’s early decades. An Airbus A350 is scheduled to take to the skies in the heritage colours on January 6, followed by a Boeing 747 on January 24. Cathay has also confirmed that another anniversary livery will be unveiled later in the year.

The milestone celebrations extend beyond aircraft. Cathay is also bringing back vintage uniforms, with selected cabin crew and ground staff wearing historic designs throughout the year. The initiative highlights the airline’s evolving service style and visual identity, while paying tribute to the people behind its operations.

To mark the anniversary, Cathay has also released a collection of exclusive merchandise inspired by different eras of its history. The range includes limited-edition aircraft models in special liveries, green heritage tote bags, aviation tags, and red packets designed around classic cabin crew uniforms. Premium collaborations are also part of the line-up, including a commemorative timepiece and a special edition whisky.
