Travellers who plan to visit Mainland China from Hong Kong can now visit more destinations north of the border via the High Speed Rail. A new long-haul Xianbei route that was launched on January 5, 2025, includes 15 stops between the SAR and the capital of the Shaanxi province. Passengers can use this route to head to Mainland locations like the historical city of Luoyang, the adventure hotspot of Huashan, and the commercial hub of Wuhan.

The new route will operate one round trip every day and will take passengers from Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Station to Xi’anbei in 11 hours. Tickets are currently on sale and range from HK$1,251-HK$3,901 per adult, depending on what category of tickets passengers book. Travellers can also use the High Speed Rail to head to Meizhou in Guangdong and Suzhou in Jiangsu. The addition of these new routes brings the number of direct-access Mainland destinations from Hong Kong on the High Speed Rail network up to 93.

The Guangzhou route will also have a new intermediate stop at Xintang, and there will also be a new daily round trip running between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, Shanwei, and Wuhan, along with adjustments to routes serving Guangzhou, Chaoshan, Shanghai, Beijing, and Chongqing.

Last year, the High Speed Rail added overnight weekday services between Hong Kong and Beijing and Shanghai that cut travel times between the cities substantially, as well as a long-haul route to Hunan province that included destinations like Shaoyang, Huaihuanan, Dongkou, Fenghuanggucheng, Jishoudong, and Zhangjiajiexi.
