Hong Kong will get appreciably cooler over the next few days, with temperatures expected to fall to 22 degrees Celsius from Thursday to Saturday. The city’s local forecaster attributes this to the influence of “a strong northeast monsoon”, which will lower humidity levels to 35% and bring fine and dry weather to the territory.
On Wednesday, temperatures will hover between 24 and 29 degrees, and the mercury will drop further in the following days. During this time, humidity levels will range from 35%-80%. The weather will get warmer from Sunday, with temperatures predicted to reach 31 degrees Celsius early next week.
The dip in temperatures this week comes after the city experienced very hot weather on Tuesday, when Super Typhoon Krathon came within 800km of Hong Kong. The mercury rose to 34.2 degrees in Tsim Sha Tsui, equalling the third-highest on record in October. The territory also saw cooler weather in September, when the northeast monsoon brought in mainly cloudy weather and occasional showers after Hong Kong’s hottest Mid-Autumn Festival in 140 years.
