The Hong Kong Observatory says the city will be consistently cooler this week, thanks to “a replenishment of the northeast monsoon” that will bring fine and dry weather to the territory and low humidity levels. Minimum temperatures will range between 20 degrees and 24 degrees Celsius, and humidity levels could be at as little as 35% on Thursday.
The city’s local forecaster expects that it will be cooler in the morning and night, accompanied by large day-night temperature differences. Temperatures will hit a high of 31 degrees on Thursday and Friday, but will subsequently drop gradually, due to the “influence of an upper-air disturbance”. This will bring cloudier conditions to the city, along with a few showers on Sunday and Monday.
Last Friday, the observatory recorded the lowest temperatures of this autumn so far, with the mercury falling to 22 degrees Celsius at the meteorological body’s headquarters in Tsim Sea Tsui. Temperatures in the New Territories were 1 or 2 degrees lower. The weather preceding Friday was also marked by low humidity levels of 35%, and the T3 signal was issued over the weekend when Typhoon Trami came within 800km of Hong Kong.
