The 2023 Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong will take place from July 28-August 1 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. The 24th edition of the mega event will feature a cosplay contest and a competition to select Japanese girl group hopefuls.
During the five-day event, visitors can walk through the exhibition space and check out limited-edition and fan-made creations at more than 500 stalls. Fans of Tony Wong Chung-loong, known as the Godfather of Hong Kong comics, will get to see the legend at the SAR’s comic con.
This year’s cosplay competition will have international contestants from Japan, France, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Taiwan for the first time in three years. Cosplayers can enter the event for free on the last day (August 1). The winner of the competition will get HK$6,000.
In addition, this year’s event will host the final of the Canvas Project idol competition — Hong Kong’s first contest to select members of a Japanese girl group. The last round of the contest will feature 10 finalists showing off their dance and musical performance skills on July 31.
Noteworthy among the exhibition areas is the Creative Paradise zone, which will feature 242 stalls selling self-made products. There’s also an Original Comic Contest for Chinese comic artists from across the world, and the World of Mobile games for those who want to compete in esports competitions.
Fans of Garfield the cat and the lovable Monchhichi can check out exhibitions dedicated to the popular characters. Visitors can also take pictures with cosplayers dressed up as their favourite comic book, superhero, anime, and manga characters.
The Elefunpop Art & Toy Show will return to the convention and will showcase the latest art toy figures and limited-edition items by designers from across the world.
Tickets are priced at HK$42 (standard), HK$150 (with a fast pass and postcard set), and HK$300 (three quick-entry passes). They are available on the ACGHK app and designed convenience stores.
Visitors can visit the convention from 10am-9pm from July 28-August 31, and 10am-8pm on August 1.
