Hong Kong will experience a massive temperature fluctuation over the coming week due to a northeast monsoon and subsequent a warm maritime airstream. This weekend will be cold, with the mercury expected to fall to 13 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning. However, the weather will gradually get hotter by the middle of next week, when temperatures will climb to a high of 25 degrees.
The city is currently under a cold weather warning and the mercury dropped to 12 degrees Celsius at the Hong Kong’s Observatory’s headquarters in Tsim Sha Tsui on Friday morning. The day will remain overcast and rainy, but the clouds will clear from Saturday afternoon and it will get progressively warmer over the following days. It will be foggy next Wednesday and Thursday, and humidity levels are predicted to soar to 100% during this time.
Last weekend, the city was shrouded in fog thanks to a humid maritime airstream that resulted in 100% humidity levels. This was followed by heavy rain and 13-degree lows thanks to an upper-air disturbance and a southward-moving cold front. Under the current cold weather alert, Hongkongers are advised to dress in warm clothing and avoid wintry winds.
